3D Printed Cable Holder

3D print a cable holder to tame unruly cables at your desk. This handy cable clip will prevent cables from falling on the floor when you unplug your laptop or other desktop electronic.

I recently assembled my 3D printer and it has been running just about every day since. I’ll start writing blog posts featuring the items that I have 3D printed. Today, I’m sharing a pair of cable holders that I’ve printed. My husband had been complaining about having to re-route the wires at his desk whenever he unplugged his laptop. After a little searching, I found a cable holder model on Thingiverse. The model is thing:70549 designed by the user bardiaesm.

I printed the cable holders on my Prusa i3 MK2S 3D printer.  It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to print two cable holders. I printed the holders in Aqua Translucent PETG Pro filament from Atomic Filament. I used the default PET profile in Prusa Edition of Slic3r. I made a slight modification to the fan speed: dropped it from min 30 to min 25 and dropped the max 50 to max 45. Previously, I had an error with printing PETG: bed thermal runaway. After making that modification, I have not had any issues printing with PETG.

I attached the cable holders to the desk with double sided carpet tape. This has kept the cable holders secured to the desk with no signs of detaching.

I am pretty happy with how the print came out and look forward to printing more household solutions in the near future.
